A Collection Beyond Fiction

From Glasgow Without Love is an evocative collection of ten compelling stories that encapsulate the intricate tapestry of human experience, inspired by a cold shivering night the author slept at the Buchanan bus station, Glasgow. This work explores themes of love, immigration, and identity through the lens of diverse characters navigating their realities. From the heart-wrenching journey of a black immigrant facing deportation in the titular story to the tragic aftermath of a queer one-night stand in ‘One Gay Night’, each narrative delves deeply into the struggles and triumphs of its protagonists.

Set between Nigeria and Glasgow, the characters in the collection reveal the chaotic vibrancy of modern life by bringing a vivid context to these poignant tales. Interweaving humour and heartache, this collection masterfully captures the essence of resilience and the universal quest for connection, ultimately illuminating the beauty and complexity of the human spirit.

A gripping tale of love, betrayal, and survival in the harsh realities of immigrant life. From Glasgow Without Love explores identity, sacrifice, and the pursuit of hope in a world without one…

The Brussels review

‘A racy collection of stories captivating and relatable in almost equal measures served in riveting prose with the power to keep readers yearning for more.’

Olukorede Yishau, Author

‘Albrin Junior is a witty, stylish and always surprising writer. His story ‘Deceived’ is a tale of romance, intrigue, and revelations to rival any Shakespearean play. What a treat!’

Dr Carly Brown, Author.

‘From Glasgow Without Love is an engrossing collection of stories that adamantly depicts the elemental misfortune of being human, done in the offhanded manner which typifies Albrin’s story telling behaviour.’

Ray Anyasi, Author

‘This book creates a series of stories that covers an important spectrum of issues, all, I think relevant and timely. Through all of them there runs a humanistic spirit, sometimes subtly expressed, but even in the texts that touch on the spiritual or mystical notions, I never lost sight of the humanity of the characters drafted. Short story writing is a particular art. Albrin captured in most of these a complex range of emotions and reactions. The writing is quite strong – clear, clever where it needs to be, intense when necessary, and accessible. I applaud your ability to create dialogue that is both realistic and informative in developing the characters. I like this collection very much.’

Greg Fields, Author. Editor

‘This new collection of stories by Albrin Junior takes us deep into the heart of the human condition. As we move between the United Kingdom and Nigeria, love and desperation walk hand in hand. Albrin peels back the layers of his characters so that we understand that they are complex and nuanced, made vulnerable by their struggles – sometimes with tragic results. Throughout, there is keen eye for observation, and an ability to imbue the highest of drama with notes of hope for a better future. Albrin Junior is an important new voice in contemporary fiction.’
