One beautiful fragile timepiece
If we have one miracle to make our own, one strength to choose, let it be the ability to turn our heartache into blessings for others. There are lessons in how we respond to the challenges life places upon us. EASE is a treasure trove of truth that provides a rare education of what facing death can teach us about how to live fully whilst we are alive. Dying can be a great teacher if it impels us to serve the living.
A valuable insight into a young woman’s journey who needed a life-saving transplant amidst a global pandemic, faced unimaginable adversities head on with unwavering faith, underpinned by the power of prayer that keeps hope alive. The flip side of One Day At A Time, EASE is a transparent and raw memoir that is a shining example of what one can endure physically, whilst calling out judgements and prejudice of what society believes chronic illness should look like. A life lived, unfiltered.
‘Astonished by her bravery and uplifted by her vivacious faith-filled spirit, Rebecca is the epitome of strength, resilience and determination. Despite facing an avalanche of grim diagnoses, she not only finds the words to describe the unimaginable challenges she has faced, she does so with outstanding gratitude, happiness and humour in her pen and within her heart.’ – Prof. Dr. Michael Schutz
Rebecca is a passionate advocate for the work of the NHS, across specialities of Oncology, Renal and Neurology as well as supporting the work of charities who fund vital research into the scientific treatments for associated conditions and diseases, alongside offering support for patients and their families. She has advocated for better Mental Health services across the UK, raising over £85,000 for the HOPE room initiative set up in 2018 from her first book One Day At A Time. NHS Blood and Transplant Services remain her focus as she wishes to use her experiences to support others throughout transplantation.
For every copy of EASE sold, 50% goes to support families facing this difficult journey.
Rebecca actively delivers through her faith and supports patients across all departments through the Chaplaincy Services within her local hospital. Professionally, Rebecca’s career is within the NHS in her beloved field and favourite medical speciality, Ophthalmology where she takes great pride in serving her patients with love and kindness. Ever grateful for when she gets to wear her lanyard, and not the gown.
Rebecca’s children are now adults. She was blessed to see her son graduate from university in 2022 and her daughter shall graduate in 2025. These moments never once believed she would be there to witness. With each day, she remains full of gratitude for her donor’s gift granting her life on extra time and God’s grace throughout.
With her husband David by her side, their joint expeditions have continued with further trips high above the Arctic Circle and beyond, raising money for charities on many occasions. Using her gift of life to live each day well, she is steadfast and focused on her purpose to help others whilst honouring her donors legacy by living life to its fullest.
